Corvinus Veil
Lord of Arcana and Archmage of the Soulwardens

A mage of great renown who has served as the leader of the Soulwardens for the last twenty years, and served as Lord of Arcana for the last sixteen.  He's generally well regarded among wizards, having successfully struck a balance of support with both the Dawnbringers and the Nightwatchers.  He is known to be extremely intelligent and powerful, and is regarded by most as the most powerful archmage in the Vale.

His life's work has been the creation and evolution of the Stratus Invocation, named for his former master Caldor Stratus.  This magic has led to the creation of Remnants, which have become essential to the society of Solstice and most of the Valian League.   While this formulae was first discovered thirty years ago, it has only become more impactful over time as Remnants have moved from a subject of research to a common commercial product for the upper and middle classes as well as the military.

He is known to be a follower of Nereus, though he is more driven by arcane pursuits than faith.  While he tends to stay on good terms with most, he's been known to have public conflicts with the Church of Ydar.  At the moment he is afforded substantial political advantage through his work to help Chancellor Darian Hightower in his election campaign.  This move provided him a political ally at the highest level, and created an opening for his nephew Rowan Veil to attain the title of the Lord of Commons.

Mages of Spirit and Mind

The Soulwardens are a group of mages who specialize heavily in enchantment and necromantic magic.  Within this, individuals can specialize in different forms of magic or serve different roles in the organizaiton.  Some mages focus more on research, others on archiving, others on producing Remnants.  Individual mages within the Soulwardens are given broad freedom in their focus, provided it aligns with the Archmage's overall goals.  

As their magic can often be subtle and indirect, their organization also has a group of knights trained within it called the Redguard.  They serve both as escorts on dangerous missions, and personal bodyguards for high ranking soulwardens.  Soulwardens are able to form special bonds with their guards providing them additional protection.  Members of the Redguard are always seen in full armor with their face covered.

Unique Spells

1. Life Tap - Deals necrotic damage to the target and heals the caster based on damage dealt

2. Scarlet Daggers - Throw daggers of crimson energy that deal piercing and bleeding damage.

3. Heartspeaker - You can sense living heartbeats, enhancing your perception and social skills.

4. Harrow - The target is wracked with pain and terror as their body and mind sharply decay, dealing initial damage and applying dazed and disadvantage on attack rolls over time.

5. Bind Remnant - Create a remnant from a recently deceased humanoid
