Description
Medius is a god of patience, endurance, and balance. His followers are expected to have a great deal of empathy and not rush into decisions and judgement. Positive emotions are celebrated as long as they do not cause one to lose control, but negative emotions like fear, jealousy, and anger are seen as dangers to be tamed.
Four times a year, aligned with the seasons, the most devout followers of Medius will declare a new dalvi, or "soul journey." This is a practice where they choose to ritually deny themselves a particular comfort or pleasure. These can include things like indulgent food and drink, fancy clothing, sleeping in a comfortable bed, or even radical gestures like speaking. When one Dalvi ends, another begins. The dalvi is meant to be temporary and reflect a weakness the follower is working on. Dalvi are always decided by the follower themselves, but often younger followers or junior clergy are guided to a goal by a mentor figure.
The clergy of Medius is highly decentralized compared to most religions, and tends to have a fairly ecumenical approach toward other deities that share common values. It isn't uncommon to see a priest of Medius run a religious service for a diverse community of religions, focusing on the practical teachings of the faith.
Medius gets along well with other lawful and good deities, but has great tension with those who promote impulsivity or pride. Most notably, Medius is often in conflict with Vari and Zilik, though this may come across as more scolding that outright hostility.
This is Stoneflow, found in the town of Silverstone. The original temple was built hundreds of years ago and is found behind the facade shown in this picture. The entrance was added more recently by followers with a flourish for architecture. Regardless, the water flows through the temple itself through grooves carved into the natural stone walls.
