The Storm Guard
Elite Warriors of Hartfell
While Hartfell has a local militia composed primarily of crossbowmen and pikemen, it's miltary is most famous for its elite fighting force called the Stormguard. These soldiers do not posses any arcane or divine talents, but rather harness emotion itself to enhance their extensive training.
They favor wielding multiple weapons and charging into battle in a frenzy clad head to toe in armor. It is rumored that the strongest willed knights possess psionic powers to manipulate both force and emotion. To join the Stormguard, you must be a devoted follower of Vari.
A knight is addressed by the title, "Fury" while the leader is known as the "High Fury." Squires are known as "Squalls" and must pass a trial at the Ardent Summit to become a Fury.

Leopold Hart
Duke of Hartfell
The young Duke has run Hartfell for the last three years after his father died in battle. He is inexperienced but eager to prove his family's worth, and seems to be adept at navigating the current social order. As is tradition in his family, he is a devoted follower of Vari.
He is known to be conservative - opposed to anything that would disrupt the traditional social order. He is publicly known to be strongly opposed to the use of Remants and bans their sale or use in Hartfell.
Serves as Lord of State in Solstice, splitting time between the capital and his own lands. He is entirely willing to work within the unified government of the Vale, but is highly protective of his independence.
Leopold is currently unmarried and facing increasing pressure from his mother and close advisors to marry and produce an heir despite his relatively young age and excellent health.
Sir Winston Ashcroft
General and Regent
Former lord of the Stormguard and Leopold's right hand, who acts as Regent when the Duke is in Solstice.
Serves as the city's general, coordinating affairs between the City Watch and Stormguard.
Sarina Hart
Dowager
Ruled alongside her late husband Edgar Hart until he was killed three years ago.
Acts as an informal advisor to Leopold, but her official duties are limited to symbolic events.
High Fury Olivia Ashcroft
Leader of the Stormguard
Daughter of Sir Winston Ashcroft and first female leader of the Stormguard.
This has caused some stir among the nobility, but has been acepted due to a mix of her personal talent and father's political influence.
